Charger statuses explained

What each status on your dashboard means, what drivers see, and what to do when it’s not the one you want.

Your charger checks in with ChargerMate every 30 seconds and tells us what it’s doing. The status on your dashboard comes from those check-ins. While your charger is plugged in or charging, you’ll see what the plug itself is doing, such as Charging.

Needs your attention

Unreachable

Your charger hasn’t checked in for more than 3 minutes, or has never connected. Drivers see it as Unreachable and can’t start a session.

  • Is it a new charger? It shows Unreachable until it connects for the first time. Follow the charger setup guide, and check the server URL and identity are entered exactly as shown.
  • Check the power. Make sure the charger is switched on and its circuit breaker hasn’t tripped.
  • Check the internet connection. Is the Wi-Fi, network cable or mobile signal at the charger working?
  • Restart the charger. Turn it off at the breaker for a minute, then back on.
  • Changed the charger’s identity in ChargerMate? Enter the new identity in the charger’s settings too, or it can’t connect.

Invalid Configuration

Each time your charger starts up, ChargerMate sends it the settings it needs to work with us. Invalid Configuration means the charger refused at least one of them. While it shows this status, your charger is hidden from Find chargers and drivers can’t start a session.

  • Restart the charger. The settings are sent again every time it starts up.
  • Check it’s compatible. See whether your make and model is on the compatibility list, and whether a firmware update is available for it.
  • Still stuck? Email support@chargermate.com.au. We can see which setting your charger refused.

Faulted

The charger has reported a fault with itself. Drivers see it as Unavailable.

  • Check the charger’s display, lights or app for an error code, and look it up in the charger’s manual.
  • Restart the charger at the breaker.
  • If the fault comes back, contact your installer or the charger’s manufacturer.

Unavailable

The charger is reporting that it’s out of service. Drivers can’t start a session. This is often because it’s been disabled or locked in its own app or settings. Check those, then restart the charger if it doesn’t clear.

Getting started

Pending Configuration

Your charger has connected, but hasn’t yet told us whether it’s ready. This normally clears by itself within a minute or two of its first connection. Until then, it’s hidden from Find chargers. If it doesn’t clear, restart the charger.

Working normally

Available

Ready for a driver to start a session.

Preparing

A car is plugged in or a session is starting, but power isn’t flowing yet. After a driver presses Start charging, they have 2 minutes to plug in.

Charging

Power is flowing to a car.

SuspendedEV

The car has paused charging. It might be full, have reached its own charge limit, or be waiting for a scheduled or off-peak charging time. This is up to the car, not your charger.

SuspendedEVSE

Your charger has paused supplying power. This is usually because of a setting on the charger itself, such as load management, a schedule or a solar-only mode. Check the charger’s own app if you didn’t expect it.

Finishing

The session has stopped, but the cable is still plugged in. It changes back to Available once the car is unplugged.
